The image of an insect used for the button is taken from a suite of insect portraits done as crayon lithographs. Each insect depicted in the suite was chosen for its innate personality, and drawn in a way to add dignity and presence. The image submitted to be part of the Fringe Festival is intended to act as an ambassador from backyards everywhere.

Tom Mazzullo is a printmaker who teaches at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY, and whose latest work portrays the inhabitants of his garden.
